What’s New or coming up?

This page has Posts about upcoming Club Events including Around the World Dinners (AWD), Tours, Social Events and other items of interest to members. Everyone is welcome at these events but please notify the designated Hosts by the stated RSVP Deadline.  Especially during these days of coronavirus restrictions, we must give the restaurants an accurate count.  Also very important that if you have signed up and cannot attend, let the hosts know so someone from the waitlist may attend.
If you are a host or tour leader for an upcoming event please review your event on this page and the Club Calendar and email the webmaster with any corrections OR UPDATES ON CANCELATION OR DELAY STATUS OF YOUR EVENT.
Click the highlighted page name (in green) to go to that page and when finished you can select Upcoming Tours and Posts from the main menu to return here.  Note there is no link for the Members Only Page which requires a password – select it from the main menu above and enter your password.

Winter meeting locations

Unfortunately due to the COVID-19 restrictions, we are unable to have our meetings inside at Cascade this winter.
The Nov and Dec meetings were virtual meetings and the January membership meeting and the Planning meeting will also be virtual meetings.  The regular membership meetings in Feb, and Mar are currently planned for the SYB Party Center at 4157 Hudson Dr., Stow (this is across from Rockne’s) (click for map).  Of course, COVID-19 restrictions at the time may require changing some of these to virtual meetings.  Details will be sent prior to the meeting.
For meetings held at the SYB Party Center, the building will be available from 6 – 9 PM for our meetings.  There will be chairs but you will still need to bring your own drinks/snacks if desired.  Masks and social distancing are required.  We and Cascade look forward to our returning to Cascade in the spring.

AWD Pickle Mama’s Sat 3/13

Hosts: Judy and Ed Kura and Mary Beth and Len Kozak

2021 Planning meeting 1/10/21

The Annual Planning Meeting will be a virtual meeting and will be held on Sunday, January 10, 2021 from 1 p.m. until approximately 3 p.m.

This year the planning starts now to help streamline the actual meeting.  Please submit any drives, dinners, or other events to me, prior to the meeting, so we can add them to the club calendar; we will review them during the meeting.  You can still add events during the meeting.  However, the more we have scheduled prior to going live, the better the Zoom meeting will flow.

Please email your events to me and I will forward them to President Dan Splichal and Webmaster Tom Walden for addition to the calendar.

NOTE: The link to the ZOOM Meeting will be sent out separately.

For Q1 Events, think outside the box:

  • An Around the World Dinner (AWD) or Lunch (AWL) in a restaurant that may hold less people than normal. Seeing a few friends is better than seeing none.
  • Drives that end with a “Squealing Dolphin Honk and Wave” rather than a sit-down meal. Better yet end at a park and bring chairs (weather permitting) and social distance with a picnic lunch.
  • Do something different:
    • Host a “5-To-Drive” (5-6 cars buzzing around our great roads)
    • Plan a Scavenger Hunt
    • Game nights are fun!
    • Host a CLUE DRIVE (One Good Clue and see how many arrive!)
    • An outdoor Winery Event
  • Anything to get back to FUN, DRIVING, and EATING again!

The NMC is a member driven club.  We all have the ability and chance to host an event this year.  2021 is all about getting back to Normal.  Let’s fill the calendar and plan for a Great Driving Season!

Miata Reunion – Oct 23-24/2021

The 2021 Miata Reunion (click for video announcement) will be held at the New Jersey Motorsports Park on Oct 23 -24, 2021 (click for event website).  New Jersey Motorsports Park  (click for track website) is located at 8000 Dividing Creek Rd., Millville, NJ 08332  (directions) which is about a 7 – 8 hour drive from the Cleveland area.

The events will be on the Lightning Raceway which is a 1.9 mile 10 corner circuit within the Motorsports Park.  It is fast and challenging featuring some of the most interesting and dramatic corners and elevation changes in the park. The 20-acre paddock area has a 4-acre skidpad and autocross area.

The 2020 event at Road Atlanta was canceled so here is the next opportunity to gather with fellow Miata owners from all over.  The last event in 2019 had about 1,600 people – so Miata’s at the Gap times 2 plus a racetrack and more activities.

Closer to the event there will be details posted about members going to the event.
