Tour Leader: Dave & Karen Baker

This will be an overnight trip on Thur 5/23 – Fri 5/24,  to the Northeast Ohio wine region with lodging at the Geneva-On-the-Lake State Lodge (click for website)  There will be a raffle selection for spots to participate.

Who:  If you enjoy wines created in a California/Oregon style, yes.   If you prefer wines from the Niagara grape, probably not.

What: We will be visiting three wineries after our backroads cruise to the northeast Ohio wine region.   Lunch is planned, an afternoon happy hour is arranged, and dinner will be at Ferrante on Thursday evening.   Friday morning there are two activity options.  One is zip lining at Erie Canopy Tours adjacent to the property where we are staying OR doing a self-guided tour to see barn quilts in the area.   Lunch is arranged at Debonne Vineyard.

Participation:  There are spaces for 8 cars   To allow for as many members as possible to have a chance to participate, there will be a lottery.  The drawing will be held at the February 21st regular club meeting.   Members were able to enter the lottery at the January planning meeting and at the regular January meeting.  Members may also enter the lottery at the regular February meeting prior to the drawing.

Hosts:  Betty and Bob Belding

Bob & Betty invite club members to the former Firestone Homestead, birthplace of Harvey S. Firestone, in northern Columbiana County for the 15th annual Northcoast Miata Club Picnic.

The picnic will be at the Belding Homestead at 45459 State Route 14, Columbiana, Ohio 44408 (click for map).  Our home is located one-half mile east of the State Route 7 and State Route 14 intersection on the south side of State Route 14, directly across from the entrance to the Links at Firestone Farms GC.  Our house is the first house on the right after you pass the traffic light going eastbound.  Look for the sign.  Everyone is welcome!  Bob’s cell # is 330.853.6658 if you get lost.

There are some neat Miata Roads to travel if you wish a leisurely drive to the picnic   Also, Doug and Carol Leavens are planning a group to convoy to the picnic – details will be posted later.

Arrive any time after 2:30 PM, bring your favorite dish to share along with copies of your recipes (unless they are secret), your favorite beverage and enjoy the afternoon.  The club is furnishing hamburgers, kielbasa, soft drinks, water, table service, plates and cups. We will eat the main feast at 5:00 PM and appetizers as you wish.

THIS IS HOW THE PROCESS WORKS:  As you arrive, bring your goodies to the house and then park along the road to show non-Miata people what they are missing by not owning a Miata.

Please let us know by June 1 that you are coming so we can order enough food.  Our land line number is 330.482.3752, or click to email us.

Also, if someone wants to run Miata rodeo games please contact us ASAP.
