Robinson Crusoe tells the story as if writing a journal of his adventures. Even though his parents disapprove, Crusoe takes a ship to London on September 1, 1651. Crusoe finds success and misfortune on the sea. He becomes a slave, establishes a plantation in Brazil, and then spends almost 30 years as a solitary inhabitant on a tropical island. Crusoe saves a native from cannibalistic savages, hence Friday becomes his faithful companion during the latter years. He finally escapes the island and returns to England where he raises a family and experiences further adventures.
